Josiah Hissong joined the Davidson baseball coaching staff in November, 2022, and serves as an assistant coach.
He added the title of Recruiting Coordinator- Position Players in August, 2024.

"Josiah stood out as a person that would come in and seek to serve our kids and our program," head coach Rucker Taylor said upon his hiring. "In his short time here, he has blended in well and has added value. He'll be a great addition to our program and the Davidson community."

Hissong works with the Wildcat catchers and assisting with team offense and defense and hitters. He'll also assist with on-campus recruiting, camps, scouting and logistics.

"I first want to thank Coach Taylor for the opportunity to be a part of this staff and this program," said Hissong. "Davidson offers an outstanding education with a great baseball tradition. I am excited and cannot wait to help build on that tradition."

From Greencastle, Pa., Hissong was most recently an assistant coach at Division II Saint Leo University in Florida, where he helped the Lions earn a national ranking and host an NCAA Regional for the first time. He also coached Sunshine State Conference Player of the Year Bobby Sparling.
Hissong played catcher at Alderson Broaddus University in West Virginia, while earning his degree in business administration in 2019. He earned his MBA from Saint Leo in 2021.

While at Alderson Broaddus, Hissong was part of the 2016 GMAC championship team and the 2016 Midwest Regional team.

Hissong served as the hitting coach for the Danville Dans (Prospect League) last summer and has also worked with various travel ball organizations in Florida and Pennsylvania.
