Purpose
The purpose of the Davidson Cheerleading Program is to create ambassadors for the college that support athletic teams and represent the college on campus, in the community, and on the national stage. The primary focus of our program is the game day experience, as we are a critical component of Athletics Marketing. This experience is achieved through presence and connections with students, staff, alumni, and the community. Cheerleaders represent the spirit and heart of the college, and as such must conduct themselves on and off the field to the highest standards as public representatives of the college. They are the face and image of Davidson Athletics. Additionally, community presence is valued, and cheerleaders will therefore commit themselves to service in the Davidson area. The competitive component of our program is in addition to any core responsibilities we have. We value this opportunity for our athletes, as it provides recognition for our skills and work ethic, as well as providing a necessary recruiting component for obtaining the most talented cheerleaders in an era where opportunities for competitive cheerleading are sought by those with the athletic skills we desire in our program. We pride ourselves in being a well-rounded program that provides support and opportunities for our Athletic Department and our athletes.Â
