Wildcats Close Regular Season with Loss at Richmond

Settling for their sixth Atlantic 10 series win, the Wildcats concluded the regular season 25-27 and 18-12 in the Atlantic 10, tied with Saint Louis for third place.
Noah Jouras' two-run homer nudged the Wildcats ahead 6-5 in the fifth inning, capping a comeback against a 5-0 Richmond start. But the Spiders answered with two homers in the bottom of the inning to regain the lead for good.
Eli Putnam hit his team-leading 18th homer in the third, and Cider Canon hit his 17th in the fourth.
Chris Schuchart, Michael O'Shaughnessy, Anthony Torreso and JD Woodall added RBI-singles.
Putnam, Torreso, O'Shaughnessy, Woodall and Gavin Thomas had two hits apiece.
After scoring five runs in the second, Richmond (33-19, 14-16) had three-run innings in the fifth, seventh and eighth.

The Wildcats will open play in the A-10 Tournament on Tuesday in Tysons, Va.
