Wildcats' Rally Falls Short at VCU

With the result, the Rams clinched the series win, while the Wildcats fell to 25-25 overall and 16-13 in the A-10.
Trailing 6-1, Davidson scored four runs in the fifth inning, highlighted by RBI-singles from Matt Manjooran and Aidan Rice and Theo Loughlin's RBI-double. And the Wildcats tied it at 6-6 in the sixth when Scotty Edwards reached on an error, allowing a run to score.
But the Rams (31-22 overall, 19-10 A-10) tacked on a run in the seventh and two more in the eighth to get separation. The Wildcats produced one run in the ninth when Fredy Diaz drew a bases-loaded walk, but ended the game with the bases loaded.
Matthew Vannoy was the lone Wildcat with two hits.
Reliever Simon Yochum highlighted the pitching performances with 2.2 scoreless innings.
