Wilson Field serves at the home for Davidson baseball. Opening in 1967 as Wildcat Park, the first game was held on March 19, 1967. On March 19, 2005, 38 years after the first game was played, the Wildcats dedicated their newly-renovated baseball field and renamed it Wilson Field.
The facilities include a baseball clubhouse, batting cages, bleachers, press box, concession stand and bathrooms. Lights were installed in 2003 with the first night game played in March of 2003.
During the 2009 season, the 2009 Team Practice Facility was completed and put into use. The facility, located beside Wilson Field behind the clubhouse, features indoor cages that allows the 'Cats the ability to practice year-round.
In recognition of Dick Cooke's 25th season as head coach of the Davidson baseball team, the clubhouse at Wilson Field was named in his honor.
Prior to the start of the 2015 season, Davidson installed The Richards Deck, located in right field underneath the scoreboard. The spectator deck was made possible by generous donations from Jim Richards '79.
In 2019, the home dugout was named in honor of George Weicker '75, who led the nation in slugging percentage in 1975 (.810).
Artificial turf was installed during the 2019-20 offseason. It encompasses the entire infield area, including the mound and foul territory behind home plate and past the bases. The home bullpen also features the new surface, as well as the mound and plate area of the visiting bullpen.
The outfield, which remains natural grass, was upgraded to assist with drainage.
Wilson Field was so named in honor of T. Henry Wilson, Jr., Class of 1951, a former baseball and football player at the college.
