Baseball's Run Ends with Loss to Patriots

TYSONS, Va. — Second-seeded George Mason scored four runs in the third inning, and that proved to be the difference in a 5-1 Patriots defeat of No. 4 Davidson Friday afternoon in the Atlantic 10 Tournament at Capital One Park.
With the loss, the Wildcats closed the season 27-29, while the Patriots advanced into the final three of the event, alongside No. 3 Saint Louis and top-seeded Rhode Island.
George Mason had three hits and the help of two Wildcat errors in the decisive inning. Lucas Alberti's two-RBI double was the biggest blow.
The Wildcats cut the Patriots' lead to 4-1 in the seventh when Anthony Torreso singled, moved over on a Noah Jouras single and scored on Chris Schuchart's RBI-single.
Jouras finished 2-for-4 and concluded the season on a 13-game hitting streak and a 32-game reached-base streak.
Matt Weber started and threw the first 2.2 innings, and none of the runs he allowed were earned. Simon Yochum (3.1 IP, 3 hits, 0 runs) and Isaac Fix (3.0 IP, 4 hits, 1 ER, 2 Ks) kept the margin close.
