Eight Atlantic 10 women's soccer teams have earned at least 10 points this season, and two of them will meet Thursday night at Alumni Stadium.
Davidson and Fordham, which have earned 11 and 10 points, respectively, are set for a 7 p.m. contest.
"Fordham is another very strong team in the Atlantic 10, and we know it's going to be a competitive, physical game," said coach Adam Denton. "We're looking forward to the opportunity."
The Wildcats, now 10-2-3 overall and 3-2-2 in the A-10, are coming off a 1-1 tie at Duquesne last Sunday. Sophia Caruso provided the Davidson goal when she scored off Hailey Braemer's corner kick in the 29th minute.
Davidson is currently tied for fourth in the league standings with Duquesne and UMass, behind Dayton and Saint Louis (18 points) and VCU (14). Fordham and Saint Joseph's are tied for seventh as the league schedule funnels to an eight-team postseason tournament later this month.
GETTING DEFENSIVE
With 10 shutouts this season, Davidson has matched the program record set in 2005 and matched in 2007. That included a string of six straight shutouts and another four-game streak.
Having outscored its opposition 23-7, Davidson leads the A-10 and ranks 10th nationally with a .467 goals-against average. Keeper Mary Grace Bunch leads the league in minutes played (1,286:18) and goals-against average (.490).
SHARING THE LOAD OFFENSIVELY
Davidson's scoring has come from everywhere.
Aleia Gisolfi-McCready continues to lead the Wildcats with three goals, while Caruso and five others — Brooke Ditcham, Phoebe Fowler, Alli Jacobson, Riley Patton and Remi White — have scored two goals apiece. In all, 12 Wildcats have scored this fall.
Braemer has a team-high five assists, which is tied for third-best in the A-10.
SCOUTING FORDHAM
The Rams are 4-8-1 overall and 3-2-1 in the A-10, with the most recent result being a 3-1 loss to La Salle.
Kristen Cocozza is the Rams' top offensive threat with four goals and 10 points.
The Rams lead the all-time series 5-0-1, including a 1-0 win last year.
