DAVIDSON — Hailey Braemer's goal and more shutdown defense helped the Davidson women's soccer team top Fordham 1-0 Thursday night at Alumni Stadium.
It's the fourth A-10 win for the Wildcats, which matches the program's high mark from the 20-21 spring season, and it's also the single-season program record 11th shutout.
The Wildcats are now 11-2-3 overall and 4-2-2 in A-10 play, while Fordham (4-9-1) fell to 3-3-1 in A-10 contests.
"We're happy to grind out a victory at home, keep a clean sheet and get a valuable three points," said coach Adam Denton.
Braemer's goal, her first of the year, came in the 51st minute off a left-looping cross from Rachel Schleicher.
"I saw Rachel making a really good run out wide," said Braemer. "She took her space, and all I was thinking was just, 'Get in the box.' She played a really great ball, and I just finished in the back of the net."
Mary Grace Bunch made four saves in goal. Fordham's best chance came with two minutes remaining when Julia Horton's shot sailed just over the crossbar.
