Wildcats Play Saint Joseph's to 1-1 Draw

DAVIDSON, N.C. — A 36th-minute goal from sophomore Reese Montgomery secured a 1-1 draw for the Davidson College women's soccer team against St. Joseph's on Thursday night at Alumni Stadium.
With the tie, the Wildcats earned their first point in the Atlantic 10 Conference standings, moving to 0-1-1 in league play and 4-4-2 overall. The Hawks recorded their third consecutive draw, bringing their record to 4-2-4 on the season.
Davidson controlled the early tempo, firing five shots in the opening 35 minutes before Montgomery broke the tie. The Arlington, Virginia, native gathered a rebound off a blocked cross from Charlotte Hansen and buried it into the net.
Saint Joseph's responded with heavy pressure, tallying eight shots in the opening half. In the final minute before halftime, Kayla D'Ottaviano played a cross into the box that floated over Davidson goalkeeper Grace Stair to even the match at 1-1.
Stair made amends in the 71st minute, executing a diving save on a St. Joseph's penalty kick to keep the game deadlocked. Stair finished the night with four saves for the Wildcats, while Saint Joseph's goalkeeper Lauren Lebo registered three.
St. Joseph's finished with a 15-7 advantage in total shots and a 5-4 edge in shots on goal. Montgomery led Davidson with two shots in the contest.
