Pak and Lyons Lead ‘Cats to 3-0 Win Over La Salle

DAVIDSON, N.C. - Seniors SJ Pak and Dakota Lyons each recorded a goal and an assist en route to a 3-0 victory over La Salle Sunday afternoon in Atlantic 10 action at Alumni Stadium.
The win improves the Wildcats' record to 7-5-3 and 3-3-2 in conference, moving them to eighth in the standings and in line for a playoff spot. La Salle falls to 7-6-2 and 4-3-1 in Atlantic 10 play.
The two teams played to a stalemate in the first half with the Explorers holding a 9-8 shot advantage going into the break. Grace Stair was excellent in goal for the Wildcats, making six first half saves and eight saves overall.
Davidson was able to break the deadlock in the 63rd minute with a Pak's third goal of the season. She received a cross from Brooke Roumy that skimmed the head of Lyons, deflecting the ball to the awaiting right foot of Pak.
From there, the Wildcats offense found its footing, putting up eight shots in the second half with four shots on target. In the 69th minute, Sophia Whiddon had her shot defect to Savannah Pruitt, who scored her first goal of the season and put the 'Cats up two scores.
Lyons sealed the game in the 80th minute, receiving a pass from Pak that allowed her to streak the length of the field and send a looping shot that snuck past the La Salle goalkeeper putting the final score at 3-0.

The Wildcats close out their home schedule on Oct. 23 when they welcome George Washington to Alumni Stadium for a 7 pm kickoff.
