Savage Named Assistant Women's Soccer Coach

DAVIDSON, N.C. – The Davidson College women's soccer program announced Tuesday that Gus Savage is joining the staff as an assistant coach. An experienced coach specializing in goalkeeper development, Savage joins the Wildcats after serving in coaching roles at Wentworth Institute of Technology and Boston University.
"We are so excited for Gus to be joining our Davidson women's soccer family," said head coach Riley Piechnick. "His energy and passion for the game are evident, and he has experience developing goalkeepers at a high level. He has demonstrated a strong work ethic and his core values align with our mission to continue elevating a competitive program that prioritizes the scholar-athlete experience."
Savage joins the program after serving as an assistant women's soccer coach at Wentworth Institute of Technology, where he assisted with daily coaching operations and led goalkeeper training. Before his arrival at Wentworth, Savage spent the 2024-25 season as an assistant coach at Boston University, where he supported training sessions, video analysis, and match-day preparation while crafting a goalkeeper training program focused on technique and game management
A former standout goalkeeper, Savage was a team captain at Salem State University, where he earned his Bachelor of Science in Sports Management.
He has continued his playing career at the semi-professional level with North Shore FC and previously played in the UPSL for Merrimack Valley United and the NH Bobcats.
