Davidson Takes Series From St. Bonaventure On First Day

ST. BONAVENTURE, N.Y. – The Davidson baseball team took its first series against the St. Bonaventure Bonnies after winning both games in a doubleheader Saturday afternoon in the series opener at Fred Handler Park.
With the victories, the Wildcats improve to 20-16 overall and 10-7 in the Atlantic 10, while St. Bonaventure dropped to 14-17-2 on the season and 2-12 in the conference.
The two teams will conclude the series tomorrow, April 26 at Fred Handler Park at 12 p.m.

Four runs in the second and the sixth innings helped lift the Davidson Wildcats past the St. Bonaventure Bonnies, 11-8, Saturday afternoon at Fred Handler Park in the series opener.
With both teams committing three errors, the Wildcats outhit the Bonnies, 16-12. Three Wildcats picked up three hits apiece with first baseman David Daniels leading both teams with three hits, four runs and three RBI in five at bats.
After St. Bonaventure took the early 4-1 lead in the first, Davidson matched the Bonnies' four runs off four hits, including a DH Ryan Lowe triple to center field that scored two to give the 'Cats the 5-4 lead.
Two Wildcat errors helped St. Bonaventure pick up three runs in the seventh but homeruns from Daniels and right fielder Lee Miller helped score four in the sixth eventually secured the contest for the 'Cats.
RHP Clark Beeker pitched the first six innings, allowing seven runs, which five were earned, off 10 hits with two strikeouts for the win. Three other Wildcats pitched an inning for the 'Cats, including RHP Matt Saeta who faced the final three batters for the save.
Three Bonnies saw the mound for St. Bonaventure, including RHP Connor Grey who started the first five innings, allowing eight runs off 13 hits with six strikeouts for the loss.
