Baseball Battles No. 4 Clemson in 7-4 Loss

CLEMSON, S.C. — For the second time this week, the Davidson baseball team battled a powerhouse program in a tight contest, but ultimately the No. 4 Clemson Tigers held off the Wildcats 7-4 at Doug Kingsmore Stadium Friday evening.
Noah Jouras and Cider Canon led the Wildcats (4-8) with three hits apiece.
The win was the 11th straight for the Tigers, who improved to 13-1 and scored in five straight innings after the Wildcats led 2-1 early.
Trailing 1-0, Davidson struck in the third inning with a two-RBI single by Michael O'Shaughnessy.
In the seventh, the Wildcats cut the Clemson lead to 5-4 with RBI-singles by Eli Putnam and Canon.
Starter Wilson Perkins threw 5.1 innings, allowing seven hits and four earned runs, while striking out three.

The series continues Saturday with a 3 p.m. game.
