Wildcats Fall in Opener at Dayton

The loss snapped a four-game winning streak for the Wildcats, who fell to 10-14 overall and 5-2 in the Atlantic 10.
After a flurry of early scoring, the Wildcats tied it at 9-all in the fourth when Anthony Torreso cleared the bases with a double. But the Flyers (12-16, 3-5) scored the game's next six runs to regain control. The Wildcats got within a run with a three-run eighth, highlighted by Michael O'Shaughnessy's two-run homer.
O'Shaughnessy led the Wildcats with a 4-for-5, five-RBI day that also included a double.
Jack Cotrone and Eli Putnam went 3-for-6 with two RBIs apiece, with Cotrone hitting a solo homer and a double and Putnam doubling twice.
Torreso drove in four and had two hits along with Jamie Daly and Cider Canon.
The Wildcats used four pitchers, with starter Wilson Perkins (3.1 IP) taking the loss.

The series will continue and conclude with a doubleheader at 11 a.m. Saturday.
