Canon's Homer Caps Win Over Gardner-Webb

Canon's home run broke an 11-11 tie in the bottom of the eighth inning and propelled the Wildcats (10-13) to their fourth straight victory.
Eli Putnam, fresh off a five-homer weekend and multiple national honors, homered twice in his first three at-bats. Paired with his three-homer game on Sunday, it gave him five home runs — and a double — in a stretch of seven at-bats. Tuesday, his solo shot sparked a four-run first inning, and he and Canon hit two-run homers in the third, as the Wildcats moved ahead 9-5. Putnam leads the Wildcats with nine home runs, while Canon added six RBIs to his total on Tuesday.
Chris Schuchart went 4-for-6 and added a solo blast in the fifth, making it 10-8. Putnam, Canon and Michael O'Shaughnessy had three hits apiece.
The Wildcats entered the eighth trailing 11-10, then tied the game when Noah Jouras scored on a two-out error, setting the stage for Canon.
Davidson utilized eight pitchers, with Brycen Champey (1.0 IP) and Matt Weber (1.0 IP) notching the win and save, respectively.
