Five Wildcats drove in multiple runs and three hit home runs as Davidson, now 8-13 overall, set a season-high runs total for the second straight day and improved to 4-1 in Atlantic 10 play.
VCU (4-18, 0-5) trimmed Davidson's eight-run lead to 9-8 by the eighth inning, but the Wildcats answered with 10 runs off of nine hits in the bottom half — their first double-digit run total in an inning this year — to regain control.
Michael O'Shaughnessy and Chris Schuchart homered for the second straight day, with O'Shaughnessy's three-run shot in the first starting the scoring and Schuchart adding a solo bomb in the second. Anthony Torreso rejoined the starting lineup after missing significant time for injuries and hit his first homer in two years, a three-run blast that made it 8-1 in the third.
O'Shaughnessy led the way with four RBIs, taking his team-leading total to 22, while Torreso, Eli Putnam and Cooper Collins drove in three runs each and Cider Canon plated two. Putnam finished 4-for-5 for the second straight day, while Jouras had three hits, including two doubles.
Isaac Fix earned his second win, throwing the first five innings. Matt Weber navigated a two-out, bases-loaded situation in the eighth and notched his first save.
