Wildcats Remain Red Hot in Win Over Niagara

DAVIDSON, N.C. – Behind a flurry of scoring and Jenna Skibbe's second 7-goal game of the season, the Davidson lacrosse team dominated Niagara University 20-3 on Sunday afternoon inside Davidson College Stadium.
In their final non-conference game of the year, the Wildcats improve to 5-3 while the Purple Eagles drop to 2-7.
Davidson jumped out to an early 2-0 lead and never looked back, as Allie Hartnett kicked off the scoring with her fourth goal of the season followed by a Devyn Martinez feed to Skibbe in the first 90 seconds of play.
The 'Cats led comfortably by halftime, 10-2, after Aeryn Curren traveled coast-to-coast to record her first career goal to close out the first half.
In the victory, Wildcats Tate Crawford and Caroline Lockyer also notched their first career goals.
Overall, Davidson out-shot Niagara 32-14 and held the Purple Eagles to just eight draw controls. Alanna Dumulac (7) and Riley Moore (4) dominated in the draw circle, as the 'Cats picked up 17 draws and went 20-of-21 on clear attempts.
In addition to Martinez's three assists and one goal, Jacqueline Callahan also dished a game-high three assists and scored once. Sophomore Adrienne Leone recorded three goals and an assist for her second-straight multi-goal game.

The Wildcats resume Atlantic 10 play next Saturday, March 22 to take on Rhode Island on Field 76. Opening draw is slated for 12 p.m.
