
Skibbe's Five Goals Push 'Cats Past Saint Joseph's 13-11

DAVIDSON, N.C. - Behind five goals from Jenna Skibbe, Davidson pushed past Saint Joseph's 13-11 on Saturday afternoon. The Wildcats improve to 11-3 (5-2, A-10) and now hold the tiebreak over the Hawks for third place in the current A-10 standings.
There were five ties in the first half, but with the score 5-5 at the 7:02 mark in the second quarter, Davidson went on a run. Devyn Martinez scored a goal and Jenna Skibbe added two goals. The 'Cats led 8-5 at halftime. Davidson outscored Saint Joseph's 5-2 in the second quarter.
Keira Best and Allie Hartnett each scored a goal for the Wildcats in the third quarter. Saint Joseph's tallied three goals in the third and only trailed 10-8 entering the final frame.
Kayla Joyce collected eight saves and made back-to-back stops at a critical moment in the fourth quarter. With a little more than eight minutes left, Joyce saved a shot attempt on a free position and the ball deflected back to the Hawks. Seconds later, Joyce saved another shot. This protected Davidson's 11-9 advantage. Aeryn Curren scored back-to-back goals to extend the lead to four with less than four minutes in regulation.
