
Davidson's Historic Season Ends in First Round of NCAA Tournament

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - Davidson's historic 2026 season came to an end after a 19-6 loss to Clemson in the first round of the NCAA Tournament. The Wildcats conclude the campaign with 15 wins, which is the most in a single season, and the program's first Atlantic 10 Championship.
Clemson got off to a fast start with four goals in the first five minutes of the opening quarter. Aubrie Eisfeld scored three of these and all of them were assisted by Emma Penczek.
Jenna Skibbe got the 'Cats on the board with a goal at the 4:47 mark of the first quarter.
The Tigers outscored the Wildcats 7-1 in the second quarter and led 13-2 at the half.
A highlight moment for Davidson came in the fourth quarter with 9:35 left. Jenna Skibbe, who has a team-high 58 goals this season, recorded her first assist of the year with a beautiful pass to Devyn Martinez in transition.
Martinez finished with two goals in the game. Brooke Ross led Davidson with three goals. Margit Crittenberger had a team-high three caused turnovers.
Towards the end of the fourth quarter, the team huddled together and yelled, "We love our seniors." Once the game ended, the team embraced the group of 11 seniors.
This senior class features Devyn Martinez, Maia Chisari, Mary Claire Hendrick, Allie Hartnett, Alanna Dumalac, Eva Howell, Shayna Brodman, Piper Harrell, Ella Romeo, Adrienne Leone, and Jacqueline Callahan.
