'Cats Fall at VCU Friday

RICHMOND, Va. — League-leading VCU defeated Davidson, 80-56, Friday evening inside the Siegel Center.
The Wildcats fall to 16-13 overall and 6-10 in league action, while the Rams improve to 24-5 and 14-2.
VCU, which started 7-of-8 from the floor, raced out to a 16-1 advantage and never looked back. The Rams led by as many as 29 points to take a 54-25 lead with 15:02 left to play, although the Wildcats cut the deficit to 15 (61-46, 66-51) on two occasions over the final 8 minutes of the contest.
Connor Kochera and Zach Laput led the way for Davidson offensively with 18 points apiece.
The Rams, which shot 49.2 percent from the floor, were led by Jack Clark (18 pts) and Luke Bamgboye (17). Max Shulga also grabbed 11 rebounds to go with 8 points.

Davidson will conclude the road portion of its 2024-25 slate Wednesday evening at Loyola Chicago.
