BRONX, N.Y. – Bobby Durkin recorded his fourth double-double of the season with 20 points and 13 rebounds to lead Davidson past Fordham, 80-69, in Atlantic 10 men's basketball action Saturday afternoon inside Rose Hill Gym.
In addition to improving to 16-11 overall and 6-8 in league play, the Wildcats also got double figures from Reed Bailey (17), Connor Kochera (17) and Zach Laput (10).
Despite a sluggish start and falling behind 8-2, Davidson settled in with a 10-2 spurt to take the lead for good. The Wildcats would later use a 16-2 run midway through the first half highlighted by 12 points from Bailey to push the margin to 18 before going to the break in front, 41-24.
Davidson, which finished the contest shooting 48.3 percent, extended the lead to as many as 22 on a Laput layup at the 15:57 mark.
Facing its largest deficit of the game, Fordham (11-16, 3-11 A-10) slowly chipped away eventually making it a seven-point game, but the Wildcats had an answer with consecutive treys from Durkin and Hunter Adam to put the game away.
Jackie Johnson III led the way for the Rams with a game-high 21 points. Jahmere Tripp finished with 17 to go along with 10 boards.
