'Cats Blank George Washington 4-0

10/20/2024 3:05:00 PM | Women's Soccer

DAVIDSON - The Davidson women's soccer team scored a pair of goals in each half on the way to a 4-0 victory over George Washington Sunday inside Alumni Stadium.

The victory pushes the Wildcats record to 7-6-3 overall and 3-4-1 inside the Atlantic 10. The 'Cats continue to build a strong record on their home field, now at 5-1-3.

Offensively, Davidson was led by SJ Pak (8:43), Charlotte Snead (37:56) and Aleia Gisolfi-McCready (78:43, 85:23) as the triad accounted for the Wildcats four goals on the day. The quartet of players to dish out assists over the win included Savannah Pruitt and a trio of rookies in Charlotte Hansen, Samantha McGee and Sophia Whiddon.

Gisolfi-McCready in her first start in October, brought her season goal total to four while collecting the third multi-goal performance of her career. Pak tallied her third goal of the season, Snead netted her second of the year.

The 'Cats dominated the action wire-to-wire taking 13 shots and placing eight on target in addition to tallying their third game this season with at least four goals.

On the defensive third, the Davidson back line had one of its best performances to date, allowing the Revolutionaries to just one total shot over 90 minutes, a season-low for the 'Cats and the first time doing such since September of 2022.

Emily Smith recorded her 33rd consecutive start as well as her 33rd straight game playing all 90 minutes in goal for the Wildcats. Smith she picked up her fifth shutout of the season having faced just one off-target shot.

Over the game, Davidson held advantages in shots (13-1) and shots on goal (8-0) while both teams took seven corner kick attempts.

Now solely in control of the important eighth spot in the A-10 standings, the Wildcats will continue to hunt down a spot in the postseason tournament when they travel to UMass 2 p.m. Oct. 24.
