
Wildcats Lose at UMass, 2-0

AMHERST, MASS. - The Davidson women's soccer team suffered a 2-0 loss in its final Atlantic 10 road contest of the regular season Sunday at UMass.
With the loss, the 'Cats move to 7-7-3 overall and 3-5-1 in the league, still in contention for the important eighth seed into the conference tournament.
The Wildcats were able to successfully defend all seven of UMass' first-half strikes in order to send the game into the halftime break tied 0-0.
On paper, the 'Cats and Minutewomen played equally over the second half each taking five shots, however, UMass was able to convert on two of its shot attempts, extending out to a 2-0 by the 62nd minute.
Davidson's best look at netting a goal came with under five minutes on the clock when a corner kick resulted in the Wildcats taking three consecutive shots, hitting the post first until the ball was eventually defended out of the zone by the Minutewomen.
Aleia Gisolfi-McCready led the 'Cats with two shots, both on target while Savannah Pruitt landed one of her two shots of the afternoon on goal. Kialie Hudson was the remaining Davidson player to put a shot on goal.
Emily Smith, in 90 minutes of action, made six saves in goal for Davidson.
