SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Despite rallying back from a two-goal deficit, the Davidson College women's soccer team took a 3-2 loss at USC Upstate Thursday evening at County University Soccer Stadium.

The Wildcats fell to an even 1-1 record early in the season.

The Spartans took a one-score lead early in the contest as Jasmyn Mitchner scored in the eighth minute. A few minutes later, the 'Cats were charged with a handball in their own penalty box, which awarded Annabelle Wunderlich a penalty kick. She converted it for a 2-0 lead.

Late in the first half, Davidson cut the lead to one score with a goal from freshman Adriana Dunat. Dunat punched in a ricochet off the Spartan keeper for her first career goal.

In the 65th minute, the 'Cats earned their own penalty kick after foul in the penalty area. Charlotte Hansen took the kick and scored to tie the game at 2-all.

Unfortunately for Davidson, the Spartans responded a few moments later, scoring in the 72nd minute to take the lead for good.

Dunat and Brooke Roumy led the Wildcats with three shots and two shots-on-target. The 'Cats outshot the Spartans 18-14 and 9-6 in shots-on-goal.

Hannah Wilt made seven saves for the Spartans, while Grace Stair made three for Davidson.
