Wildcats Drop Series Opener to George Mason

An early two-run lead didn't hold for the Davidson Wildcats Friday night in a 5-3 loss to George Mason at Wilson Field.
With the loss, the Wildcats are now 22-21 overall and 6-11 in the Atlantic 10.
Alex Fedje-Johnson had two hits to lead the Wildcats and was involved in all three runs. After singling to lead off the game, he scored on a bases-loaded wild pitch in the first inning.
Fedje-Johnson's RBI-double down the left field line plated Jake Wilhoit, who also doubled, in the fourth to make it 2-0.
In the seventh, it was Fedje-Johnson's turn to score again, this time cutting George Mason's lead to 5-3 on Trevor Candelaria's RBI-double.
Starter Alex Fenton threw six innings, allowing three earned runs and seven hits, while striking out six. Will Schomberg covered the final three innings, surrendering three hits and striking out six, including the side in the seventh.

The series continues Saturday with a doubleheader beginning at 1:30 p.m.
