The Davidson baseball team hits the road Friday afternoon at Richmond in its return to Atlantic 10 Conference play.
Â
The 2 p.m. contest is the first of a four-game weekend set, which will feature a doubleheader of seven-inning games Saturday and one game Sunday.
Â
The Wildcats (20-18, 4-8 A-10) are coming off a 17-12 non-conference loss at Wake Forest Tuesday night. John Hosmer and Ruben Fontes hit their team-leading 10th home runs, and Trevor Candelaria hit his ninth.
Â
The matchup with the 14-6 Spiders, who have yet to play a conference game due to various COVID-19 protocols, will be the team's first since the 2019 A-10 Tournament, when the Wildcats won a 6-3 elimination game. The teams' scheduled 2019 series in Davidson was canceled due to rain, and the Wildcats took two of three games in Richmond in 2018.
Â
League leaders
