Wildcats Threaten in Loss at Richmond

RICHMOND, Va. — Davidson had an advantage in scoring chances Sunday at Richmond, but it didn't pay off for the Wildcat women's soccer team on the scoreboard, as the Spiders claimed a 3-0 win.
Davidson finished with a 6-5 edge in shots-on-goal and had a 7-2 advantage on corner kicks. In the first seven minutes of the contest, Hannah Casey, Sophia Caruso and Remi White had shots that required saving.
"We played extremely well in the first half creating opportunities and retaining possession," said Davidson coach Adam Denton. "We conceded a goal late in the half, which was disappointing as we had played well. At the start on the second half, we did not deal with serves into the box and second balls and conceded two early goals. Very disappointed with the loss, but in this league, you have to compete with the physicality of the play for 90 minutes."
Richmond's Victoria Huxtable got the Spiders started with a goal in the 40th minute. Hannah Antonick and TJ Anderson scored in the second half.

The Wildcats host VCU Thursday, Oct. 21 at 7 p.m. in the final home game of the season.
