DAVIDSON, N.C. — Thursday marks the first Atlantic 10 women's lacrosse game for Davidson, as it will play host to La Salle to begin league play at Richardson Stadium.
The Opening Draw Control...
Davidson (5-3, 0-0 A-10), riding a three-game win streak, enters A-10 play by hosting La Salle Thursday night at 6:30 p.m. inside Richardson Stadium. This is the second time in the past three years the Wildcats will start league play against the Explorers (4-4, 0-0 A-10).
The All-Time Series/Last Meeting...
This is the fifth meeting all-time between both schools dating back to 2011, with the series tied at 2-all.
The Wildcats have won the last two games, including a 17-6 road decision last year. Five players had multiple goals, led by Shayne Antolini's eight points on four goals and four assists. Annie Brockett had six points, five on goals.

Goalie Rose Woolson is slowing climbing into the Wildcats' record books. She currently sits in sixth place in career saves with 360. She is also seventh in minutes and her current goals against average is third all-time (10.23). Last year as a junior Woolson set the program's single-season record in groundballs with 67, while her saves total (165) was sixth best.
Weekly Awards...
Feb. 27: Senior goalie Rose Woolson collected Davidson's first Atlantic 10 women's lacrosse weekly award this year when she was tabbed co-defender of the week. Woolson, who shared the award with Saint Joseph's Bridget Cerciello, won her fifth career defensive player of the week honor. She finished the week with 28 saves, six groundballs, two caused turnovers and an 8.50 goals against average between the pipes. The senior from Baltimore, Md., had a stellar week during games against Winthrop and William & Mary. Woolson started the week off by holding the Eagles to five goals and coming up with a 14-save outing to earn the win. She added a season-high four groundballs and caused one turnover. Woolson capped the week off with another 14 saves at William & Mary, helping keep the Wildcats within striking distance before they fell 12-9. She added another two groundballs and forced a turnover.
March 20: After leading Davidson to a 2-0 record last week, the duo of Jordan Wood and Rose Woolson were named the Atlantic 10 Women's Lacrosse Player and Defender of the Week. The weekly award for Wood, who shared it with Jocelyn Donohue of George Washington, is the first of her career, while Woolson won her second defender of the week award this year and sixth for her career. The duo was outstanding last week in wins against Iona (10-8) and at Campbell (13-6) to help the Wildcats snap their three-game losing streak. Wood led the offense with seven goals on 11 shots to go with three groundballs, two caused turnovers and a draw control. A career-high six of those goals came in the victory at Campbell as she scored three in each half.
Woolson picked up her 18th and 19th career wins between the pipes by finishing with 24 saves and a 7.00 goals against average. She had a save percentage of 63.2 percent and scooped up seven groundballs for the week. The two-time defender of the week registered 10 saves at home vs. Iona and then stopped 14 shots on the road at Campbell, allowing just six goals which was the second fewest she has allowed this season.
Last Time Out...
DAVIDSON — Four Wildcats scored two or more goals and 11 players in all recorded at least one point in helping Davidson roll to a 19-3 win at home Wednesday night over Gardner-Webb. The 16-goal win was its biggest since a 17-goal win (21-4) against Kennesaw State at home to open the 2015 season.  Â
Genna Portner led the way for the Wildcats by scoring a career-high five goals, three of them in the first seven and a half minutes when the 'Cats opened up a 6-0 lead. Portner would score one more in the half and Davidson went into halftime up 15-0.
The Wildcats had several season highs in the win, including goals, assists (13) and points (32). They dominated the box score with a 28-10 advantage in shots, 20-15 edge in groundballs and were a perfect 17-for-17 on clear attempts. Both teams had 12 draw controls apiece.
Last Time Out..
LA SALLE — The La Salle women's lacrosse team staved off the LIU Brooklyn Blackbirds on the road Friday evening, 16-12. Senior Brittany Edwards completely took over the game at one point in the second half and scored four consecutive goals to help La Salle pull away. She finished with six, giving her an Atlantic-10-leading 27 goals this season.
The Explorers scored six of eight goals at one stretch in the first half and took a 9-5 lead into the half.
Lynne Frankel continued to be a problem for other teams. The goalie had six saves in net. Abbey Meehan was all over the place. She scooped up a team-high four grounders and caused six turnovers. She also had three draw controls.
