'Cats Take on Big South foe Gardner-Webb Wednesday Night

DAVIDSON, N.C. —
Davidson returns home to face its third Big South opponent this year, and second straight, Wednesday evening when it hosts Gardner-Webb at Richardson Stadium in women's lacrosse.

The Opening Draw Control...
Coming off its second straight win after a three-game skid, Davidson (4-3, 0-0 A-10) looks to keep the winning going Wednesday night at 6:30 p.m. when it will welcome the Runnin' Bulldogs (2-6) to Richardson Stadium. The Wildcats have faced Big South foes Winthrop (W, 10-5) and Campbell (W, 13-6) already this season.

The All-Time Series/Last Meeting...
This is the first meeting all-time between both programs, as Gardner-Webb started its lacrosse program in 2015. The Wildcats are playing their third school this season that has started a women's lacrosse team dating back to 2013.

Record Watch...
Goalie Rose Woolson is slowing climbing into the Wildcats' record books. She currently sits in sixth place in career saves with 357. She is also seventh in minutes and her current goals against average is third all-time (10.23). Last year as a junior Woolson set the program's single-season record in groundballs with 67, while her saves total (165) was sixth best.

Weekly Awards...
Feb. 27: Senior goalie Rose Woolson collected Davidson's first Atlantic 10 women's lacrosse weekly award this year when she was tabbed co-defender of the week. Woolson, who shared the award with Saint Joseph's Bridget Cerciello, won her fifth career defensive player of the week honor. She finished the week with 28 saves, six groundballs, two caused turnovers and an 8.50 goals against average between the pipes. The senior from Baltimore, Md., had a stellar week during games against Winthrop and William & Mary. Woolson started the week off by holding the Eagles to five goals and coming up with a 14-save outing to earn the win. She added a season-high four groundballs and caused one turnover. Woolson capped the week off with another 14 saves at William & Mary, helping keep the Wildcats within striking distance before they fell 12-9. She added another two groundballs and forced a turnover.


Last Time Out...
DAVIDSON — Sophomore Jordan Wood netted a career-high six goals and Davidson picked up its second straight win with a 13-6 decision on the road at Campbell last Saturday.

Wood scored three goals in each half and the Wildcats built an 8-2 halftime lead. Davidson scored the first four goals of the game and then added four more, two by Wood, to end the first half. The lead would grow to 10 goals in the second half at 13-3 after Wood netted her final score of the game on a free-position shot with 7:18 left on the clock.

Joining Wood in the scoring column was the 'Cats' top-two seasonal points leaders, Christine Molinari and Shayne Antolini. The duo had three points each, with Molinari netting her 11th goal and dishing out a pair of assists, while Antolini scored twice to give her six goals and tied Molinari with her 13th assist of the season.

Freshman Olivia Carey had another three-point outing, scoring a goal and picking up two assists. Genna Portner came off the bench to score a season-best two goals.

Goalie Rose Woolson had yet another double-digit save game, finishing with 12 to give her 77 on the season. She added three groundballs.

Last Time Out..
GARDNER-WEBB — Quinnipiac jumped out a 7-1 lead at halftime and went on to an 18-9 women's lacrosse win over Gardner-Webb last Saturday. Gardner-Webb battled back after falling behind in the opening 30 minutes, scoring five goals in the first 14:37 of the second half – and pulling within 10-6 on Abby Hanscom's second goal of the half.

The Quinnipiac Bobcats seized control from there, scoring three goals in a row to go up 13-6 and finished off the game on a 5-3 run.

Gardner-Webb was led offensively by Hanscom, who finished with three goals and an assist. Dyment added three goals, Lippert had two and Steinmuller finished with a team-high four assists. Maddie Martin had seven draw controls to go with her goal and Monique Martin had eight ground balls.
