DAVIDSON, N.C. – Davidson baseball wraps up its 11-game homestand this weekend, beginning its Atlantic 10 opener by hosting St. Bonaventure in a three-game stint at Wilson Field.
Saturday will be a special game for the Wildcats, as they partner with Connor House in the inaugural Breast Cancer Awareness game. There will be special t-shirts for sale, as well as a raffle for a team signed hat and ball. All proceeds benefit Connor House Bosom Buddies, a nonprofit organization that raises funds for earlier.org, an early detection site for breast cancer.
Buffalo's Best Food Truck will also be on site, and there will be a moment of silence to honor those families affected by breast cancer. Fans are encouraged to wear pink.

THE SERIES
The 'Cats and Bonnies have only met three times in program history, where Davidson swept St. Bonaventure back in 2015 by scores of 11-8, 13-8, and 16-1. Then-freshman Alec Acosta recorded four hits and four RBI on the weekend, scoring twice, and then-sophomore Jake Sidwell also scored twice, adding three hits and a RBI. Brian Fortier and then-freshman Andrew Born each delivered a pinch-hit single and scored, and Tyler Agard fulfilled the catching duties Sunday, going 2-for-3 with a double, RBI, and a run.
THE DAVIDSON RUNDOWN
Davidson suffered its second shutout of the season Tuesday, falling 2-0 to ACC-opponent Notre Dame. Despite the loss, the 'Cats allowed just five hits, but were limited to three hits, courtesy of junior Acosta and seniors Will Robertson and Fortier. Sophomore pitcher Josh Hudson registered two perfect innings of relief, while junior Connor Gordon also put in two frames of work, striking out three.
Last weekend, the Wildcats split a doubleheader with Siena, taking the first game 11-8 before falling 8-4 in the nightcap. The offense was led by Acosta, who registered five hits on the day, including three doubles, with three RBI and two runs scored. Acosta went 7-for-12 last week. Davidson cranked out 17 hits in Game 1, with eight of the nine starters in the lineup registering at least one hit. Acosta, classmate Cam Johnson, and sophomore Justin Lebek each recorded three, with Robertson, sophomore Eric Jones, and freshman Zach Nussbaum collecting two apiece. Fortier added three RBI, smashing his eighth homer of the season, and classmate Westin Whitmire earned his fourth save of the year, taking sole possession of third place all-time for career saves.
SCOUTING THE BONNIES
St. Bonaventure comes into the weekend with a .500 record, led by junior transfer Ryan MacCarrick's .394 batting average and team-best 12 hits. Dual threat Aaron Phillips also carries 12 hits at a .279 clip. Phillips has posted a 3.72 ERA on the mound with 14 strikeouts. The Bonnies are a threat on the base paths, already boasting 17 stolen bases.
