THE SERIES
Davidson and Notre Dame have never met before in program history. However, the Irish has faced three common opponents with the 'Cats this season in league foes Saint Louis and Rhode Island and UMass Lowell. Notre Dame lost to the Billikens twice and the River Hawks, but defeated the Rams 8-4.
THE DAVIDSON RUNDOWN
The 'Cats split a Saturday doubleheader with Siena, winning the first game 11-8 before falling 8-4 in the nightcap. Junior Alec Acosta led the offense, registering five hits on the day, including three doubles, while tallying three RBI and scoring twice.
The 'Cats cranked out 17 hits in the victory, with eight of the nine starters in the lineup registering at least one hit. Acosta, classmate Cam Johnson, and sophomore Justin Lebek each recorded three, with senior Will Robertson, sophomore Eric Jones, and freshman Zach Nussbaum registering two apiece. Senior Brian Fortier added three RBI, smashing his eighth homer of the season.
SCOUTING THE IRISH
Notre Dame enters the week with a 3-11 ledger, most recently being swept by Clemson. Nick Podkul leads the Irish with a .352 clip and 19 hits, while Kyle Fiala has a team-best 11 runs and a perfect 5-for-5 stolen bases. He's tied for tops on the squad with two homers.
THE MOUND MAKEUP
