'Cats Return Home to Host High Point Wednesday

DAVIDSON, N.C. -- The Davidson baseball team returns to Wilson Field Wednesday, May 4 to host High Point at 6 p.m.
The Wildcats (22-22, 9-9 A-10) hold a 16-11 record at Wilson Field this season and are coming off a 1-2 weekend at Saint Louis.
For the second-straight week the Wildcats earned a conference weekly award as senior Durin O'Linger was named Atlantic 10 Co-Pitcher of the Week. O'Linger led the Wildcats to a 1-0 victory over Saint Louis on Saturday. The Tampa, Fla., native tossed the first complete game shutout of his career, limiting the Billikens to just seven hits and only one extra-base hit while striking out five.
Brian Fortier leads the squad with 56 hits, including six doubles, and 22 RBI for a .337 batting average. On the mound, Clark Beeker (7-3) leads the team with an impressive 1.75 ERA, allowing just 17 earned runs with 56 strikeouts in a team-high 87.2 innings. Beeker also leads the conference innings pitched, while ranking second in ERA and wins.
High Point (26-16, 9-6 Big South) enter Wednesday on a three-game losing streak after going 1-2 at No. 15 Coastal Carolina before falling to UNC Wilmington last week. Chris Clare leads the Panthers with 59 hits, including 13 doubles, and 22 RBI for a .364 batting average. High Point is batting .273 as a team. On the mound, Tyler Britton leads the squad with a 3.05 ERA, allowing 17 runs - 14 earned - off 35 hits in 41.1 innings pitched.
