'Cats Set For A-10 Weekend Series Against George Washington

DAVIDSON, N.C. -- The Davidson baseball team continues its five-game homestand this weekend when it hosts George Washington at Wilson Field, starting Friday at 6 p.m.
The Wildcats (16-13, 4-2 A-10) hold a 13-6 record at Wilson Field this season and will look to pick up three more this weekend. Davidson is coming off an impressive weekend, winning the weekend series at Saint Joseph's, 2-1. Andrew Pope led the squad with four hits, including a three-run homer in the eighth that helped lift the Wildcats to an 8-7 come-from-behind victory to clinch the series Saturday. Clark Beeker also impressed as he pitched his second complete game and picked up his first-career shutout on Friday to improve to 6-0 on the season.
Jake Sidwell leads the squad with 24 hits, including three doubles, and 14 RBI for a .320 batting average. On the mound, Beeker leads the team with an impressive 1.67 ERA, allowing just 10 earned runs with 40 strikeouts in a team-high 54.0 innnings. Beeker leads the conference in wins (6), strikeouts looking (14) and innings pitched (54.0), while ranking second in strikeouts (40) with the fourth-best ERA.
George Washington (11-9, 2-1 A-10) is coming off a 2-1 weekend series against La Salle before a 15-3 loss at Virginia Wednesday night. Mark Osis leads the Colonials with 37 hits, including two triples, and 15 RBI for a .389 batting average. Two other Colonials are hitting above .300. On the mound, Bobby LeWarne leads the squad with a 3.65 ERA, allowing 22 runs - 20 earned - off 43 hits in 49.1 innings pitched.
