'Cats Host Duke To Conclude Five-Game Homestand

DAVIDSON, N.C. -- The Davidson baseball team will conclude its five-game homestand Tuesday when it hosts ACC-foe Duke at Wilson Field for a 6:30 p.m. first pitch.
The Wildcats (18-14, 6-3 A-10) hold a 15-7 record at Wilson Field this season, after going 2-1 against George Washington this weekend. Davidson is coming off an impressive weekend, winning a crucial series against the Colonials. Andrew Pope and Maz Bazin led the squad with four hits apiece. Bazin went 3-for-4, including a double, and one run scored to lead Davidson to a 7-4 victory, before Pope's triple in the sixth helped lift the Wildcats to an 8-7 come-from-behind victory that clinched the series.
Jake Sidwell leads the squad with 28 hits, including three doubles, and 15 RBI for a .322 batting average. On the mound, Clark Beeker leads the team with an impressive 1.72 ERA, allowing just 12 earned runs with 45 strikeouts in a team-high 62.2 innings. Beeker leads the conference in wins (6) and innings pitched (62.2), while ranking second in strikeouts (45) with the third-best ERA.
Duke (17-15, 6-9 ACC) has won seven of the last nine contests as it is coming off a 2-1 weekend against Clemson. Jimmy Herron leads the Blue Devils with 35 hits, including 11 doubles, and eight RBI for a .292 batting average. Duke is batting .250 as a team. On the mound, Kellen Urbon leads the squad with a 2.05 ERA, allowing 18 runs - 10 earned - off 37 hits in 44.0 innings pitched.
