Wildcats Fall in Series Finale at Clemson

CLEMSON, S.C. — The Davidson baseball team led by four runs and into the seventh inning but couldn't hold the lead against the No. 4 Clemson Tigers in an 11-4 series finale loss Sunday afternoon.
The Wildcats (4-10) took a 3-0 lead thanks to a two-out rally in the third inning, with runs coming in on a bases-loaded hit-by-pitch to Scotty Edwards and a two-RBI single by Chris Schuchart. The lead grew to 4-0 in the sixth thanks to a Cider Canon home run to left field.
The Tigers (15-1), who have now won 13 straight, climbed back into it with two runs in the sixth and threatened to do more damage until pitcher Simon Yochum induced an inning-ending 1-2-3 double play.
Clemson's big inning came in the seventh, however, when the Tigers scored eight runs off four hits and pulled ahead for good on a three-run Cam Cannarella home run.
Freshman right-hander Jacob Vokal started and threw three scoreless innings, allowing one hit and striking out three in a no-decision.
