'Cats Play Patriots to a 1-1 Draw

DAVIDSON — Remi White scored for the second straight game — this time giving Davidson an early lead — as the Wildcat women's soccer team played George Mason to a 1-1 draw Thursday night at Alumni Stadium.
"Really pleased with the performance overall tonight," said Davidson coach Adam Denton. "Good energy, played well, had some chances to win it. We're just going to keep plugging along and try to do the same things going forward."
White's second goal of the year came just 3:45 into the match, as the Wildcats earned their second tie in Atlantic 10 play and third overall. White's right-to-left shot found the bottom left corner of the net and was set up by a pass from Kendall Bushick from the right corner.
The Patriots evened the score on a Brianna Bitz goal in the 16th minute.
Davidson had multiple go-ahead opportunities the rest of the way. The best came with 1:30 left in the first half when Shea Bonacci's shot was deflected by Mason keeper Louisa Moser and hit both the bar and post before bouncing away.
Making her second college start in goal, Emily Smith made five saves.

Davidson returns to the road Sunday for a 1 p.m. contest at Richmond.
