THE SERIES
The Wildcats have dominated the all-time series with the Runnin' Bulldogs, holding a 17-9 advantage. The two teams have not faced since 2009, when Davidson dropped an 12-inning 11-10 contest.
THE DAVIDSON RUNDOWN
Seniors Westin Whitmire and Brian Fortier had career outings this past weekend. Whitmire picked up this third save of the season Saturday in Davidson's 7-5 win over Hartford, tying for third in program history for career saves. Fortier put together an unblemished day at the plate Sunday, going 5-for-5, including smacking the game-tying homerun and hitting the walk-off single to give the 'Cats the 3-2 win over Butler.
Fortier is currently fourth in the nation with six round trippers this season, while junior Josh Smutzer ranks second nationally with three wins. Fortier is also fifth in the country in total bases (41) and tenth in slugging percentage (.911).
