DAVIDSON, N.C. – Davidson baseball (11-11) heads out for its third road game of the season, traveling to Durham, N.C., to face ACC opponent Duke (13-13) at the Durham Bulls Athletic Park.
The meeting will be a trip down memory lane for both coaching staffs, as the Blue Devils' skipper Chris Pollard pitched for the Wildcats from 1993-96, and Davidson assistant coach Ryan Munger spent four seasons at Duke from 2010-13, primarily serving as catcher.

THE SERIES
Tuesday marks the 146th meeting between the two schools, with Duke leading by a margin of 112-32-1. The Blue Devils have won the last four contests, besting the Wildcats in two games a season for the last two years. The 'Cats last defeated Duke in 2015, when then-sophomore Durin O'Linger picked up his first win of the season after tossing 2.1 innings of relief, striking out three and allowing no runs or hits.
THE DAVIDSON RUNDOWN
Davidson suffered its first ever Atlantic 10 sweep this past weekend, falling to 2016 league champions Rhode Island. The 'Cats dropped Saturday's affair in heartbreaking fashion, rallying from behind to take a 6-5 lead courtesy of an Eric Jones homer, before a ninth-inning, two-out, two-run shot put the Rams back on top.
Senior Will Robertson snapped a 16 game hitting and reached base streak after going 0-3 Sunday. The streak was the longest of his career, and ties for the second-longest in program history. The leader is 17 games, set in 1996 by Luke Goodwin.
Freshman southpaw ZJ Zabinski has shined on the mound as of late. In three appearances last week, Zabinski faced just one batter above the minimum, and tallied four Ks, including three in a row in his 1.1 innings of work at High Point. Zabinski ranks in the Top 5 in the A-10 amongst freshman relievers in every statistical category.
Davidson bests Duke in four categories, posting a better on-base percentage (.368 to Duke's .348), more patience at the plate (94 walks to 85), and lower ERA and walks allowed (4.89, 78 BB to 4.95 ERA, 99 BB).
SCOUTING THE BLUE DEVILS
Duke enters the weekend right at .500 at 13-13, but are coming off the series loss to league foe Virginia on the road after taking only one game. Sophomore Jimmy Herron tops the team at a .347 clip with 35 hits, and is in a three-way tie for first with four home runs. Classmate Griffin Conine posts a .307 average, but boasts a team-best 25 RBI, nine doubles, and two triples to accompany his four homers.
As with the trend as of late, the Blue Devils prove a threat on the base paths, having swiped 36 of 46 stolen bases this season. Herron leads the squad with nine on 12 attempts.
THE MOUND MAKEUP
Freshman RHP Matt Mervis (10.97 ERA, 0-1, 10.2 IP, 13 K) vs. Junior RHP Josh Hudson (3.97 ERA, 1-1, 11.1 IP, 10 K)
UP NEXT
The 'Cats return to Wilson Field for another A-10 battle, welcoming Saint Joseph's and highly-touted draft prospect Deon Stafford, Jr., for a three-game stint.
