'Cats Return Home For Five Straight Starting Tuesday

DAVIDSON, N.C. -- The Davidson baseball team returns home for a five-game homestand starting Tuesday night then they host Wake Forest at Wilson Field. First pitch is set for 6 p.m.
The Wildcats (16-12, 4-2 A-10) hold a 13-5 record at Wilson Field this season and will look to pick up five more. Davidson is coming off an impressive weekend, winning the weekend series at Saint Joseph's, 2-1. Andrew Pope lead the squad with four hits, including a three-run homer in the eighth that helped lift the Wildcats to an 8-7 come-from-behind victory to clinch the series Saturday. Clark Beeker also impressed as he pitched his second complete game and picked up his first-career shutout on Friday to improve to 6-0 on the season.
Jake Sidwell leads the squad with 23 hits, including three doubles, and 14 RBI for a .315 batting average. On the mound, Beeker leads the team with an impressive 1.67 ERA, allowing just 10 earned runs with 40 strikeouts in a team-high 54.0 innnings.
Wake Forest (18-12) has won six of the past nine contests, including a series victory over Duke, but the Deacons most recently dropped two out of three at Notre Dame. Will Craig leads the Demon Deacons with 35 hits, including 10 doubles, and 36 RBI for a .461 batting average. Craig leads the nation in slugging percentage (.947) and also ranks atop the ACC in RBI and batting average. On the mound, John McCarren leads the squad with a 2.37 ERA, allowing 12 runs - eight earned - off 33 hits in 30.1 innings.
This is the second meeting this season between the two teams and Wake Forest took a 7-4 victory at Couch Ballpark on Feb. 23.
