Beeker Records 5-0 Shutout in DH Split with Fordham

DAVIDSON, N.C. – The Davidson baseball team split a doubleheader with Fordham to open the weekend series at Wilson Field Saturday afternoon after Friday's game was postponed due to rain.

In addition to Lee Miller's grand slam in the fifth, redshirt-senior Clark Beeker recorded his second-career shutout en route to a 5-0 win over Fordham in the first game of the weekend series Saturday afternoon at Wilson Field.
As both teams recorded nine hits and one error, Beeker (7-2) was crucial on the mound as he limited the Rams to no extra-base hits and recorded five strikeouts with no walks in 107 pitches.
Two Rams appeared on the mound, including Kirk Haynes, Jr., who pitched the first 4.2 innings, allowing five runs off seven hits with two walks and a strikeout for the loss.
In addition to Miller's grand slam, Davidson had two Wildcats with multiple-hit performances, including Alec Acosta, who started the day off with a triple to finish 2-for-5, two run scored.

Fordham out hit the Wildcats, 12-4, while Davidson committed four errors. Four Rams recorded multiple-hit performances, including Mark Donadio, who led both teams with a 3-for-5, one-RBI outing. Four different Wildcats recorded a hit.
Davidson got out to an early 2-0 lead after scoring on a wild pitch in the second and a sacrifice fly in the third, but Fordham picked up three runs in the sixth and four runs in the ninth that secured the ballgame.
On the mound, Durin O'Linger (5-3) pitched 6.2 innings, allowing four runs – three earned – off seven hits with five strikeouts for the loss. Four other Wildcats pitched in relief.
Greg Weissert (3-3) recorded the win for the Rams, allowing three earned runs off just two hits with one strikeout and five walks. Two other Rams made an appearance.
