
'Cats Set to Host Weekend Series Against Fordham

DAVIDSON, N.C. -- The Davidson baseball team returns home to host a three-game Atlantic 10 weekend series against Fordham starting Friday at 6 p.m. at Wilson Field. On Sunday to close out the series the Davidson athletic department will honor its seven seniors prior to first pitch.
Seniors Clark Beeker, Sam Foy, Aaron Tovsky, Andrew Pope, Lee Miller, Chad Moss and Durin O'Linger will all be honored in an on-field ceremony Sunday prior to first pitch.
The Wildcats (20-17, 7-5 A-10) hold a 15-8 record at Wilson Field this season and will look to pick up three more this weekend. Davidson is coming off an impressive road victory at Winthrop Tuesday. The Wildcats scored in each of the last four innings that overcame a seven-run deficit en route to a 12-10 come-from-behind win at the Wintrhop Ballpark. Jake Sidwell led both teams with four hits, three RBI and two runs scored, while Brian Fortier and Max Bazin recorded three-hit performances, including Bazin going 3-for-3 with one RBI and three runs scored.
Sidwell leads the squad with 39 hits, including four doubles, and 19 RBI for a .355 batting average. On the mound, Beeker (6-2) leads the team with an impressive 1.91 ERA, which ranks second in the A-10, allowing just 15 earned runs with 48 strikeouts in a conference-best 70.2 innnings.
Fordham (20-19, 6-3 A-10) has won each of its first three conference series, including Richmond, La Salle and Rhode Island with taking two of the three games in each instance. Ryan McNally leads Fordham with 42 hits, including three triples and eight homeruns, and 30 RBI for a .323 batting average for the lone Ram batting over .300. On the mound, Kirk Haynes, Jr., leads the squad with a 2.70 ERA, allowing 34 runs - 18 earned - off 34 hits in 50.0 innings pitched.
