‘Cats Head To George Mason For Final A-10 Road Trip

DAVIDSON, N.C. – The Davidson baseball team is set to travel to George Mason for its final A-10 road trip, starting Friday at 3 p.m. The two teams will then face Saturday at 2 p.m., before their series finale Sunday at 1 p.m.

THE SERIES
• This is the first meeting between the two teams. George Mason is the fifth team this season from the A-10 that the Wildcats have never played since joining the league.
THE 'CATS
• The Wildcats enter the weekend 22-16 overall and 11-7 in the A-10, coming off a 6-3 victory for its fourth-straight win Tuesday at Wilson Field.
• Outfielder Lee Miller leads the squad with a .382 batting average with 27 runs, 58 hits and 43 RBI in 152 at bats. Two other Wildcats have at least a .300 batting average in the Davidson line up.
• On the mound, RHP Ryan Lowe leads the team with a 2.30 ERA, allowing 16 runs off 35 hits with 32 strikeouts in 43.0 innings. RHP Clark Beeker, who has a 4.67 ERA, leads the team and the conference in innings pitched (71.1) and strikeouts looking (28).
• The Wildcats are currently fourth in the weekly A-10 standings thanks to a current six-game win streak in the conference.
THE PATRIOTS
• The Patriots enter the weekend 18-23-1 overall and 7-8 in the A-10, coming off a 6-4 setback to UMBC Tuesday at Spuhler Field.
• Outfielder Luke Willis leads the squad with a .373 batting average with 45 runs, 66 hits and 23 RBI in 177 at bats. Four other Patriots are batting over .300 in the George Mason line up.
• On the mound, RHP John Williams leads the team with 65.2 innings pitched, allowing 46 runs off 82 hits with 49 strikeouts for a 4.93 ERA. LHP Jake Kalish follows Williams with 64.0 innings pitched, allowing 32 runs off 64 hits with 56 strikeouts for a 3.76 ERA.
• The Patriots are currently ninth in the weekly A-10 standings.
LAST TIME OUT
• Nick Neitzel's career day on the mound helped the Davidson baseball team to its fourth-straight victory with a 6-3 win over Elon Tuesday night at Wilson Field.
• The senior recorded a career-high eight strikeouts and held the Phoenix scoreless for the first five innings of play. Neitzel's eight strikeouts consisted of six straight, including three looking in the first two innings. He finished the day allowing just two hits while facing 21 batters.
• Despite committing four errors, the Wildcats outhit Elon, 9-5, while the Phoenix tallied two errors. Designated hitter Ryan Lowe and left fielder Will Robertson led both squads with two hits, one run and one RBI, while shortstop Alec Acosta also picked up a 2-for-4 performance with one run scored. Three other Wildcats recorded a hit, including right fielder Lee Miller with a two-RBI double.
• The 'Cats raced out to a 3-0 lead after the first four innings, before the two teams traded three runs and an error in the seventh, but two singles and Miller's double was enough for the Davidson victory.
• In addition to Neitzel, four other Wildcats saw the mound for Davidson, including LHP Evan Roberts who recorded the win and RHP Matt Saeta who recorded the save.
