‘Cats Return Home Tuesday To Host Elon

DAVIDSON, N.C. – The Davidson baseball team looks to extend its three-game winning streak when it returns home Tuesday to host the Elon Phoenix at 6 p.m. at Wilson Field.
SERIES: 73rd Meeting – Elon leads 40-32-1.

THE SERIES
• This is the 73rd meeting between the two teams and Elon leads the all-time series, 40-32-1. The Phoenix and 'Cats first met on April 10, 1908, a game that Davidson won, 4-2. Last season, when both teams were members of the Southern Conference, the Wildcats won two of the three meetings at Elon.
THE 'CATS
• The Wildcats enter Tuesday 21-16 overall and 11-7 in the A-10 after coming off their second-straight A-10 sweep at St. Bonaventure this past weekend.
• Outfielder Lee Miller leads the squad with a .385 batting average with 27 runs, 57 hits and 41 RBI in 148 at bats. Two other Wildcats have at least a .300 batting average in the Davidson line up.
• Miller is coming off an impressive weekend, going 8-for-16 with three homeruns, eight RBI and six runs scored against the Bonnies.
• On the mound, RHP Ryan Lowe leads the team with a 2.30 ERA, allowing 16 runs off 35 hits with 32 strikeouts in 43.0 innings. RHP Clark Beeker, who has a 4.67 ERA, leads the team and the conference in innings pitched (71.1) and strikeouts looking (27).
• After the three-game sweep, the Wildcats jumped to fourth in the A-10 weekly standings.
THE PHOENIX
• The Phoenix enter this week 22-20 overall and 11-7 in their first season in the CAA. Elon is coming off a series win over No. 22 UNC Wilmington this past weekend.
• Outfielder Ryan Cooper leads the squad with a .354 batting average with 37 runs, 56 hits and 33 RBI in 158 at bats. Infielder Casey Jones is the only other Phoenix batting over .300 with a .331 average.
• On the mound, RHP Chris Hall leads the team with a 3.68 ERA, allowing 15 runs off 23 hits with 29 strikeouts in 22 innings pitched. LHP Jake Stalzer is projected to start Tuesday with a 8.69 ERA and 2-4 record this season.
• The Phoenix have won four of their last five contests.
LAST TIME OUT
• A grand slam from left fielder Nathan Becker in the third helped Davidson complete its second-straight A-10 sweep with a 16-1 win at St. Bonaventure Sunday afternoon in the series finale at Fred Handler Park.
• For his first homerun of the season, Becker homered over the centerfield fence that increased the Wildcat lead to 5-0 and gave Davidson an early momentum. Then multiple runs in the final three at bats sealed the victory for the 'Cats who outhit the Bonnies, 16-5.
• Right fielder Lee Miller led both teams for the second-straight day with three hits, including a homerun, three runs and two RBI in five at bats. Miller completed the weekend going 8-for-16 with three homerun, eight RBI and six runs scored.
• On the mound, RHP Ryan Lowe had an impressive day, holding SBU to just one unearned run off five hits with five strikeouts in 8.2 innings for the win. Three Bonnies saw the mound for St. Bonaventure, including RHP Steven Klimek who allowed six runs, which were all earned, off four hits with six walks.
