‘Cats Continue Homestand Tuesday Night

DAVIDSON, N.C. – The Davidson baseball team continues at home for a mid-week matchup against Winthrop Tuesday at Wilson Field. First pitch is scheduled for 6 p.m.
SERIES: 40th Meeting – Winthrop leads 27-11-1.

THE SERIES
• This is the 40th meeting between the two teams and Winthrop leads the all-time series, 27-11-1, which dates back to April 25, 1980. The two teams met earlier this season where the 'Cats fell, 6-3, at the Winthrop Ballpark on Tuesday, March 31.
THE 'CATS
• The Wildcats enter Tuesday's contest 18-15 overall and 8-7 in the A-10, coming off their first-ever Atlantic 10 sweep this past weekend over Dayton. The three-straight league victories have landed Davidson in sixth place in the A-10 standings.
• Outfielder Lee Miller leads the squad with a .359 batting average with 19 runs, 46 hits and 32 RBI in 128 at bats. Three other Wildcats have at least a .300 batting average in the Davidson line up.
• On the mound, RHP Ryan Lowe leads the team with a 2.88 ERA, allowing 15 runs off 30 hits with 27 strikeouts in 34.1 innings. RHP Clark Beeker, who has a 4.43 ERA, leads the team and the conference in innings pitched (65) and strikeouts looking (13).
• The Wildcats hit the road this weekend to face St. Bonaventure (13-14-2, 2-10 A-10) for a weekend series starting Friday at 3 p.m.
THE EAGLES
• The Eagles enter Tuesday on a five-game win streak to be 27-14 overall and 6-8 in the Big South. Winthrop is coming off a three-game sweep over UNC Asheville this past weekend.
• Infielder Brad Kaczka leads the squad with a .356 batting average with 23 runs, 48 hits and 22 RBI in 135 at bats. Four other Eagles have over a .300 batting average in Winthrop's line up.
• On the mound, RHP Travis Shelley leads the squad with a 2.29 ERA, allowing 39 hits, 12 runs and has 32 strikeouts in 39.1 innings pitched.
LAST TIME OUT
• Davidson picked up its first-ever A-10 sweep this past weekend as it defeated Dayton in a two-day span. After a 9-4 victory Friday night, the Wildcats completed the sweep with two wins, including an 11-0 shutout in game two.
• In the three games, Davidson outscored the Flyers, 29-6, while outhitting Dayton, 40-28.
• Second baseman Sam Foy led both squads with five runs, seven hits and five RBI in 12 at bats for a .583 batting average. First baseman David Daniels completed the weekend 6-for-12 with five runs, five RBI, three doubles and a homerun. Three other Wildcats finished the series with five or more hits.
• On the mound, LHP Rob Bain highlighted the weekend as he pitched a complete shutout in game two. The senior limited Dayton to no runs off six hits with a strikeout for his second win of the season. RHP Ryan Lowe and Clark Beeker also picked up victories for Davidson.
