DAVIDSON, N.C. –
After tallying a win on the road in their first conference game of the season, the Davidson field hockey team returns to Belk Turf Field for a pair non-conference matches Saturday and Sunday against Richmond and Georgetown, respectively.

The contest against Richmond is slated to begin at 12 p.m. on Saturday. The Sunday match against Georgetown will begin at 1 p.m. on Sunday.

Fans that are unable to make it out to the field tonight can follow all the action via live stats, which can be found here.

Scouting the Wildcats:
Continuing its best start since 1999 at 6-2, Davidson has received votes in the NFHCA/Kookaburra Division I Coaches Poll for the past three weeks. The Wildcats' 1-0 win over NorPac foe Radford was their fourth shutout of the season, surpassing last year's total of three, and is the most since 2003. Sophomore goalkeeper Sarah Fisher made a career-best 10 saves, as Davidson was held under three goals for the first time in 2010. Averaging 3.375 goals per game, Davidson remains on pace to break their single-season scoring record of 52 goals, set in 1990 and equaled in 2007. The 'Cats have scored 27 goals through eight of 19 regular season games after scoring 33 in 2009. Sophomore forward Finley Amato is leading the team in scoring with six goals and three assists (15 points). Junior forward Christine Rua follows with 13 points (6g, 1a) after scoring a goal or assist in each of the first seven games, while senior midfielder/forward Jennie Mostellar has 12 points (5g, 2a). Junior midfielder Gray Robinson has tallied a goal and/or assist in each of the last six games. Fisher boasts a goals against average of 1.90 and a save percentage of .737.

Scouting the Spiders: Richmond, an NCAA tournament participant in 2009 and currently receiving votes in the NFHCA/Kookaburra Coaches' poll, is 3-5 so far this season. The Spiders, an Atlantic-10 member, are looking to snap a four-game losing streak during which they have lost to teams either in or receiving votes for the top-20 poll. Richmond and Davidson share one common opponent in Towson, whom both teams defeated by a one-goal margin. Davidson's lone contest against a top-20 team was Friday against No. 7 Wake Forest, a 5-3 loss, while Richmond has suffered defeats to No. 15 American (5-1), No. 5 Princeton (7-1) and now-No. 20 James Madison (5-0). Christina Amorose leads the Spiders in scoring with four goals and an assist. Ann Jefferis has drawn six starts in the cage and has a goals against average of 3.04 and a save percentage of .574.

Scouting the Hoyas: Georgetown, of the Big East, enters with a 5-3 record. Davidson participated in Georgetown's tournament to start the season, but the two teams did not play each other. Both defeated fellow tournament participants Bryant and St. Francis by sizeable margins. The Hoyas and Wildcats share one other common opponent in Radford, to which Georgetown lost, 3-1, in a neutral site contest Sept. 18. The Hoyas returned to the win column Tuesday though, with a 3-2 win over Robert Morris. Georgetown has played one ranked opponent so far, suffering a 6-1 defeat to No. 12 Louisville. Catherine Shugrue leads the team in scoring with 18 points (7g, 4a) and is followed by Charlotte Tierney with 16 points (7g, 2a) and Annie Wilson with 16 points (5g, 6a). Briana Pereira has seen all of the action in the cage and has a 3.38 goals against average and .678 save percentage.

The Series: This is the first meeting between Richmond and Davidson since 2006. The Wildcats are 3-8-1 all-time against the Spiders, last winning in 1995. Davidson holds an 8-4 advantage all-time over Georgetown, winning the last six meetings. Annie Evans' first-career goal gave Davidson a 1-0 overtime victory in last season's matchup.

Up Next: Davidson will remain home and host NorPac foe Longwood Saturday at 1 p.m.
