Wildcats Top UC Davis 1-0 for 8th Win

DAVIDSON — Sib Naaktgeboren scored her 15th goal of the season, and the Davidson field hockey team earned a 1-0 win over UC Davis Friday night at Carol Grotnes Belk Turf Field.
With the victory, Davidson improved to 8-5 and surpassed the seven-win mark for the first time since the 2015 team went 8-11.
Naaktgeboren entered the weekend ranked fourth nationally and atop the Atlantic 10 with 14 goals. Friday, she struck 1:49 into the game, following a Wildcats' penalty corner.
She's the first Wildcat to score 15 goals in a season since Finley Amato scored 16 in 2010.
The shutout is the Wildcats' second of the year, following a 2-0 win over Longwood on Sept. 12. Goalies Avery Foster (3) and Eleanor Larsen (1) combined for four saves.
The last Davidson team to earn nine wins was the 2012 team that went 9-13.
