COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — Davidson's Sib Naaktgeboren has earned a spot on the National Field Hockey Coaches Association's All-South Region Second Team, the NFHCA announced Wednesday.
It's the latest honor for Naaktgeboren, who last month was named the Atlantic 10 Conference's Offensive Player of the Year.
Naaktgeboren is the first Wildcat to be named to the NFHCA All-Region Team since Sarah Fisher in 2012 and just the fourth overall (Finley Amato, Christine Rua in 2011).
"Sib's contributions to Davidson field hockey, both on and off the field, are the kind that spans the decades and will inspire the next generation of Wildcat hockey players," said coach Zoe Almquist. "It was a stellar season, a record-breaking season, the kind that I dream about for any of my athletes, and a testament to the hard work Sib and all of her teammates put in to get her into this position. She's among great company with this recognition, a position to which she firmly belongs. I'm so proud of her for this very well-deserved award!"
A Netherlands-born senior forward, Naaktgeboren led the A-10 with 21 goals and 48 points, both of which set Davidson records, and she led the Wildcats to their first winning season since 2011 (10-9) and their first A-10 tournament since 2015.
Also an A-10 First Team and A-10 All-Academic pick, Naaktgeboren ranked eighth nationally in goals and ninth in points.
She concluded her Davidson career with 87 points, which ranks third in program history, and also finished tied for third with 21 assists and tied for fifth with 33 goals.
