'Cats Complete Weekend Series Sweep of Lehigh
3/8/2026 4:43:00 PM | Baseball
DAVIDSON — A six-run second inning and shutdown pitching led Davidson to a 10-0 seven-inning win over Lehigh — and a series sweep — Sunday afternoon at Wilson Field.
The Wildcats, now 7-7, invoked the 10-run rule by scoring two runs in the seventh, including the clincher on Forrest Lietz's one-out RBI-single to right.
It sealed the first three-game series win of the season for the Wildcats, who also won both games against Fairfield (Feb. 20-21).
Jamie Daly's second home run of the season, a solo blast to right in the first inning, put the Wildcats on the right track before the second included Lietz and Will Brooks driving in runs with triples and Anthony Torreso and Matt Manjooran singling in runs. The Wildcats made it 8-0 in the fourth when Lietz (4-for-4) scored on a Scotty Edwards groundout to third.
Meanwhile, right-hander Ed Hall delivered a five-inning, one-hit, four-strikeout performance in his first start of the season. Fellow senior Brycen Champey took it from there, striking out three and allowing one hit in the final two frames.
The win is the 200th of head coach Rucker Taylor's career. Now in his eighth season, Taylor's teams are 200-150 (.571).
