WINSTON-SALEM — Davidson pitcher Wilson Perkins kept Wake Forest's bats at bay for five innings, but the No. 16 Demon Deacons took over in the sixth and earned a 7-1 win Friday night at David F. Couch Ballpark.
With the loss, the Wildcats fell to 4-4, while Wake improved to 9-1.
Perkins finished with seven strikeouts and held the Deacons scoreless and to five hits in the first five frames.
The Wildcats took a 1-0 lead in the top of the sixth after Will Brooks doubled, advanced on a Fredy Diaz groundout and scored on Matthew Vannoy's RBI-single to left.
However, the Deacons responded in the bottom of the inning with six runs on four hits to take control.
Vannoy had two of Davidson's four hits.

The Wildcats will face Loyola Marymount Saturday at 12 p.m., also at Wake Forest.
