LATEST ON THE 'CATS
• Davidson began the 2025 season with a 2-1 loss to Georgetown at a neutral site last Friday, then bounced back with a 6-1 win at Towson two days later.
• Senior Sib Naaktgeboren had a game to remember against Towson, scoring a career-best four goals and nearly matching the single-game school record (5) and her season scoring total from last season (5).
• Naaktgeboren scored two goals in the first 4:09 of the contest and added two more in the second half.
• She became the first Wildcat to score at least a hat trick since Leigha Nortier had three goals against LIU-Brooklyn in 2018.
• Freshman Lourdes Wolf also had an opening weekend to remember. She scored the only Wildcat goal against Georgetown and also scored against Towson. Ava Mickel provided the Wildcats' other goal against Towson.
• Davidson scored six goals for the first time since 2023, when the Wildcats defeated Queens 7-1 (9/1/25) and Lindenwood 6-1 (9/17/25).
Â
SCOUTING THE DEMON DEACONS
• Ranked No. 20 in the coaches' poll, Wake Forest comes to Davidson with an 0-2 record after participating in the ACC/Big Ten Challenge last weekend in Iowa City, Ia.
• The Deacons dropped a 5-4 contest to No. 15 Iowa and a 2-1 game to No. 7 Michigan.
• Mia Montag led Wake with two goals and one assist in the weekend.
• Montag (10 points in 2024) is one of three Deacons to return this year after compiling double-digit points a year ago. That also includes Lauren Storey (17) and Faye Janse (14).
• The Deacons are coached by eight-time ACC Coach of the Year Jen Averill, who is in her 34th season and is four wins shy of 450.
• Davidson is seeking its first win over Wake since 1991.
